The Fox
Part of an ongoing investigation into ethical manufacturing, The Fox is an innovative seating typology and celebration of the potential for distributed manufacturing. Designed for manufacturability and disassembly, and consisting of ecologically-sensible and recyclable 3D printing bio-composite material, The Fox demonstrates an ideal future for circular materials by suggesting its transformation from agricultural product to domestic form, and again to readily recycled end-of-life components in a continuous cycle.

The Fox imagines a future in which domestic furnishings can be fabricated and recycled in a local ecosystem situated in the home or immediate community. Common answers to advancing ecological concerns include producing longer-lasting products, affording more meaningful attachment, and multiplying and extending the lives of materials and products, all while ensuring their ultimate recyclability. Readily reconfigurable and recyclable, The Fox represents an opportunity for co-creation and local production not only to serve utilitarian needs but as a means of deepening attachment, heightening awareness of production and raw materials, and establishing positive relationships with provenance.
