60-Senchi Vessel

60-Senchi is one outcome in an ongoing series of 3D printed vessels expressing a truly rapid and robust additive manufacturing paradigm leveraging technology and tradition to advance an elevated aesthetic of low fidelity and high speed. The series reimagines the temporal and sensory experiences of technology and production in which social, economic, and ecological resilience are essential and interrelated nodes of interest.

  • This vessel suggests utilization of biomaterial not only as an aesthetic skin, but also as the matrix material in a biodegradable biocomposite system that draws both from traditional knowledge and advanced fabrication. While not proposing a revitalization of traditional approaches in lacquer application, this work suggests value in intersecting artisanal knowledge with novel applications that test scenarios for more materially- and socially-sustainable futures.
