New Bloom

Utilizing a scalable algorithmic approach to 3D printing that prioritizes tool-path over rendered/realized form, New Bloom is a project space in which truly rapid mesoscale fabrication is achieved and applied. Each printed vessel is designed to illustrate the potential of 3D printing to drive eco-sensible digital fabrication workflows that respond experimentally, pragmatically, and optimistically to the potential for producing locally.

  • The project presents a sustainability-minded vision by imagining domestic objects constructed through a combination of traditional artisanship and advanced fabrication. Mindful of cultural and ecological sustainability, and assuming a future of bio-based materiality, the project builds on ongoing investigations into natural materials and traditional practices while developing novel computer-driven approaches in fabrication. New Bloom’s raison d’être is to showcase a new paradigm in craft production.
